Open Access Policy

Jurnal Keperawatan Tropis Papua (JKTP) is a fully open-access journal. All content published in JKTP is made immediately and permanently available online, free of charge, to any reader anywhere in the world. There are no subscription fees, registration barriers, or embargoes of any kind.

JKTP is committed to the principle that open access to research accelerates scientific discovery, promotes greater equity in knowledge dissemination, and amplifies the impact of published work—particularly in health sciences settings in eastern Indonesia and other under-resourced tropical regions where access to subscription-based literature is limited.

1. OPEN ACCESS MODEL

JKTP operates under the Gold Open Access model. Articles are published in their final, peer-reviewed, and edited form and are immediately accessible upon publication without any access restrictions. The journal does not operate a hybrid model; all articles are open access by default.

2. LICENCE

All articles published in JKTP are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC-BY-SA 4.0). Under this license, anyone is free to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially

These freedoms are granted provided that appropriate credit is given to the original authors, a link to the license is provided, and any changes made are indicated. If the material is remixed or transformed, the resulting work must be distributed under the same CC-BY-SA 4.0 license.

Authors retain copyright of their work. By submitting to JKTP, authors grant the journal the right of first publication while retaining the right to use their work in subsequent publications, provided that the original publication in JKTP is acknowledged.

3. ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGE

To cover the costs of peer review management, editorial processing, and online publication, JKTP charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) upon acceptance of a manuscript. Details of the current APC are available on the Article Processing Charge page.

APC payment has no influence on editorial decisions. All manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of scientific merit and relevance to the journal's scope, regardless of whether the authors can pay the APC. Waiver requests may be considered on a case-by-case basis for authors from low-income institutions or countries; authors should contact the editorial office before submission.

4. SELF-ARCHIVING AND PREPRINT POLICY

JKTP supports author self-archiving at all stages of publication:

  • Pre-submission (preprint): Authors may post a preprint version of their manuscript on a recognized preprint server (e.g., medRxiv, OSF Preprints, or an institutional repository) prior to submission to JKTP. Authors should disclose the existence of a preprint at the time of submission.
  • Post-acceptance: Authors may post the accepted manuscript (post-peer-review, pre-copyedited version) in an institutional repository or on a personal or institutional website, with a statement acknowledging the journal and a link to the published version.
  • Post-publication: Authors may post the final published version (version of record) in any repository or on any website, including ResearchGate and Academia.edu, provided that the original publication in JKTP is clearly attributed and the article DOI is included.

5. INDEXING AND DISCOVERABILITY

JKTP is indexed in Google Scholar, Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital), Sinta (Science and Technology Index), and Dimensions. All published articles are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to ensure permanent citation and discoverability. JKTP adheres to the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and is committed to meeting the standards required for inclusion in major open access directories and databases.

6. LONG-TERM PRESERVATION

JKTP is committed to the long-term preservation of all published content. The journal participates in digital archiving to ensure that articles remain permanently accessible, regardless of changes to its online infrastructure. Details of the journal's archiving arrangements are available on the Digital Archiving page.
