JOURNAL HISTORY

Jurnal Keperawatan Tropis Papua (JKTP) (e-ISSN: 2654-5756) was the first academic journal of nursing published by the Department of Nursing, Health Polytechnic of Jayapura in 2018. The journal is published twice a year (June and December) and is available online. The journal accepts manuscripts in both Indonesian and English.

The focus of the journal on tropical nursing is motivated by the vision and mission of the Nurse Professional Education Study Program in the field of tropical disease nursing, where, with the publication of this journal, it is hoped that it can gather thoughts and research results as a repository of information on handling tropical diseases in Indonesia.

Jurnal Keperawatan Tropis Papua held its first national accreditation from Kemenristek/BRIN in December 2020, with a Sinta ranking of 5, valid for five years based on the decision of the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency RI Number: 200/M/KPT/2020. The journal received its second national accreditation in December 2023, with a Sinta ranking of 4, valid for five years based on the decision of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology RI Number: 152/E/KPT/2023. As an open-access journal, JKTP has been indexed by Sinta, Google Scholar, Dimensions, Garuda, and Crossref.

Since its first publication, JKTP has undergone three revisions to its manuscript template. The first revision was made on September 2, 2020, and the second on January 23, 2023. The third revision, implemented in June 2026, introduced a restructured template with three sections corresponding to the journal's accepted article types: research articles (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods), systematic reviews, and nursing case studies. Each section incorporates mandatory reporting standard checklists (STROBE, TREND, CONSORT, SRQR, COREQ, PRISMA, CARE, or STARD as applicable) in line with international best practices in scholarly publishing. Also in June 2026, the journal's author guidelines, publication ethics, peer-review process, open-access policy, copyright and licensing terms, screening-for-plagiarism policy, and digital-archiving policy were comprehensively updated to align with COPE Core Practices and international open-access standards. Starting with volume 6, number 1 in 2024, JKTP increased the number of articles per issue to 15.
